When I was in the third grade, I was in the midst of a growth spurt. For me, that meant shoes which were just a touch too big for me, which in turn meant I did some tripping. I remember one specific occasion when I tripped while running across the asphalt on the way to class. I threw out my hands to break my fall, and the asphalt was completely unforgiving. It wasn’t pretty! Tripping hurt – not just my scraped-up palms, but my pride.
