MOS Target 1 hit & stop tightened

Open Position Notes:

SNDK pulled back slightly again today, but only finished down a few cents and held above my stop loss.  While I’d much prefer to see this one turn back up, particularly on a day like today where the NAZ was up, it’s hanging around and still has a shot to go higher.  I’d first like to see it reclaim the breakout level, but have a stop in place should it happen to weaken further.

MOS continued lower this morning and traded down through Target 1, allowing me to book 1/2 profits for a quick 4.6% gain.  The stock recovered from its morning lows, but never filled the opening gap and stayed negative despite broad market strength.  I’ve tightened my stop for remaining shares of this position tonight just in case if happens to reverse higher, but otherwise will be looking for a move toward Target 2 in the coming days.

BIDU edged lower today, and while it did rebound from its lows of the day, it did stay negative in the face of a positive market.  I’m encouraged by that from a technical standpoint.  Several other Chinese internet stocks broke down hard today, so perhaps this one will catch up in the days ahead.  I’m staying with it for now with my stop as-is.

SNDK, MOS, BIDU triggered

Open Position Notes:

SNDK triggered a buy this morning as it cleared $48.10, and initially it found some good strength.  The stock hit new highs until mid-morning, when the pace cooled.  That ultimately led to profit-taking, and with the overall market weakness this one fell back beneath the trigger by the afternoon.  I’m going to stick with it for now, leaving my stop unchanged for tomorrow’s session.

MOS triggered a short sale this morning when it gapped through my intended entry price but less than 1% (full position).  After a couple hours of indecision, the stock headed lower.  This is a good start for this short sale, but now I’ll want to see follow through in the coming days.  I’m leaving my stop as-is for now.

BIDU triggered a short sale today as it broke the rising trend line at $139.50 as pointed out in last night’s Broadcast.  This one headed lower from there, and although it bounced slightly in the afternoon it remains in a technically vulnerable position for lower prices.  I’ll be sticking with my original stop heading into Thursday’s session.

PWRD stopped – 100% cash

Open Position Notes:

No open positions – 100% cash.

Closed Positions:

PWRD continued the pullback from yesterday and triggered my raised stop to take me out for a very minor 0.86% loss.  Today’s move constitutes a breakout failure for this stock, nixing the secondary advance I had been looking for.  This small loss is acceptable for a failed trade, so I’m now back to cash and will wait for new setups to come along before committing capital again.

WTI triggered & stopped, RAX & WFT stopped, PWRD stop raised

Open Position Notes:

PWRD backed off a bit today but held above its breakout point from last week.  Today’s volume also was very light, which suggests there wasn’t any big sellers involved in today’s pullback in price.  My stop has been raised again tonight, as I’d like to see this one hold the area of the trend line break, so I’ve set it just beneath that.

0502-2011-pf

Closed Positions:

WTI triggered a buy this morning as it cleared the trend line highlighted in last night’s video, but some mid-day profit-taking evolved into an all-out reversal, sending the stock lower in the afternoon to undercut last week’s support.  That slide in turn triggered my stop loss, taking me out of the trade for a quick 3.6% loss.  These single-day entries and exits on intended swing trades are never fun, but this was a setup I liked and it simply didn’t pan out.  I’ll keep it on the radar in case it sets up again.

WFT triggered my raised stop today after a downside reversal on increased volume.  I was taken out of this trade for a minor 1.9% loss, and although it’s still above last week’s support, today’s selling was relentless and I simply don’t like how this stock is behaving at this point.

RAX was only a partial position since it had already hit Target 1, and I had raised my stop again for remaining shares heading into today.  We saw Friday’s high challenged, and then some intense profit-taking kicked in, sending the stock lower on heavy volume.  This triggered my stop to take me out of the rest of this position, giving me an overall 4.6% profit in the trade.  It now needs time to set up again.

RAX & WFT stops raised, WTI added

Open Position Notes:

RAX reached for new highs last week, finishing Friday with a 1% gain on the session despite light volume.  This one is sitting within spitting distance of Target 2, so I’ll be watching for another push toward that level in the days to come.  It has behaved well so far, allowing me to not only book partial profits at Target 1, but I’ve also raised my stop for remaining shares while waiting for Target 2.

WFT triggered a buy last week and initially showed some hesitation, but on Friday it gained better traction to reach new recovery highs.  This helps to confirm the higher low on the daily chart that I’m trading from, and I like how this one is acting so far.  I’ll leave my stop as-is until further progress is made.

PWRD triggered a buy on Thursday with a solid push higher on strong volume, and then on Friday it backed off slightly on much lighter volume.  This is good price action so far, so I’m going to leave my stop as-is for Monday and see if this one can resume its push higher.

FLIR closed, WFT triggered, PWRD triggered & stop raised

Open Position Notes:

RAX was back and forth today, unable to exhibit any lasting momentum.  Wednesday’s morning high served as intraday support, and ultimately it gave up just a few cents.  I’m still waiting on this one with only a partial position left and a raised stop while we see if Target 2 can get hit.  Today’s action appears to be a day of consolidation, so I’m not reading too much into it.

WFT triggered a buy today as it cleared the trend line at $21 to reach new multi-day highs.  This helps to confirm what appears to be a higher low on the daily chart, so I’m going to be watching for continuation in the days ahead.  I’m leaving my stop as-is heading into Friday and will wait for more progress to be made before looking to make any adjustments.

PWRD triggered a buy this morning after gapping just a few cents past my trigger price, and from there the stock behaved quite well.  Volume surged with the trend line break, and we saw a couple of intraday spikes followed by some quiet basing action.  I’m watching for a push to Target 1 in the next couple of days, and so far like the start this one is off to.  I’ve raised my stop tonight in order to reduce my risk should this breakout happen to fail.

0428-2011-positions

Closed Positions:

FLIR pushed to new highs this morning but faltered after profit-taking kicked in.  This one triggered my raised stop for remaining shares, so I closed out this one for a 3.98% gain.  It’s acting a bit fatigued here, so I’ll keep it on the radar in case it sets up for another play.

RAX & FLIR hit Target 1 and stops raised, PAY stopped, PWRD added

Open Position Notes:

RAX gapped higher this morning and held the gap after spending a couple of hours in a choppy range.  From there, the indecision was resolved with strength, taking this one right to Target 1 where I closed out 1/2 my position for a 5.3% gain.  I’ve raised my stop for remaining shares while I await a push toward Target 2.  Today’s move was decisive and came on strong volume, which is technically healthy.

FLIR continued higher today with a steady intraday uptrend after some early weakness, pushing nicely through Target 1 where I closed out 1/2 my position for a 3.6% gain.  I’ve raised my stop for remaining shares while waiting for a push to Target 2, which isn’t far away at all and could easily be seen as soon as tomorrow.  So far, so good.

0427-2011-trades

Closed Positions:

PAY reversed lower on Tuesday and this morning we saw additional weakness on the heels of that.  I was subsequently stopped out of my trade for a 3.1% loss.  The breakout had failed, although the stock did recover this afternoon to finish just beneath the area of the trend line break.  Nonetheless, I’m out with a manageable loss after this initial failure, but will keep this one on the radar in case it shapes up for another move.

RAX & FLIR stops raised, WFT added

Open Position Notes:

RAX challenged Monday’s high today but was unable to clear it, and subsequently turned lower as some profit-taking kicked in.  The gap from last week is still intact, which I am encouraged by, so I’m going to stick with this one and see if the uptrend can continue.  I’ve bumped up my stop slightly but am still allowing plenty of room as this one rests not far from highs.

FLIR continued higher today, finishing just 5 cents from Target 1.  I am expecting that level to be cleared tomorrow, so as a result I’ve raised my stop tonight for this trade.  It’s approaching the prior highs, and I particularly liked today’s action on a notable pickup in volume.  Good action here so far.

PAY pushed to new highs today after triggering and acting well on Monday, but profit-taking kicked in and the stock slid lower for most of the session.  Today’s bearish engulfing bar on elevated volume isn’t technically the kind of action I like to see, but I’m going to be patient for now and leave my stop in place.  Should this one weaken further tomorrow, I’ll stop out according to plan, but otherwise want to see if it can stabilize and make another attempt at a turn higher.

Open Position Notes:

RAX gapped higher Thursday morning and quickly retreated to fill the gap, even turning negative on the day for a brief time.  However, the stock trended higher for the remainder of the day, challenging the morning high in the final 20 minutes of the day to post a solid gain.  This stock continues to act well, so I’m still on watch for follow through.  I’ll stick with my already-adjusted stop heading into Monday’s session.

FLIR turned lower early on Thursday, but recovered and posted a slight gain by the close.  I particularly liked how Wednesday’s gap was essentially tested and held, so I’ll be watching for continuation in this one going forward.  I’ve already raised my stop once, and will leave it as-is while waiting to see further progress.
